The house types are very varied for such as small scheme with 6 different house types.  Emer believes that as people are varied in their needs and their personalities, their homes should be too. This variation is within a common vocabulary of features and materials so that all the houses share a family resemblance as in the older Kilcormac.  The wide flat frontages, the sharp gables, the high ceiling heights and double aspect windows in the living areas and contrasting white rendered walls and dark slate roofs. 

 

 

The housing design and specification also looks to the future; - extra insulation holds in the heat and the airtight construction seals against the fiercest draft, the state of-the-art heat recovery and ventilation system will keep the air fresh and warm with the bright welcome of a real, clean controllable fire in the living room.  Windows are bigger on the sunnier side to maximise natural light and heat gain. Solar heat collected on the roofs will make a substantial contribution to keeping fuel costs down.These features mean that the houses will be exceptionally cheap to heat and light with hot water almost free in the Summer time. 

Heating and hot water is controlled by one easy to use control unit.
